IPL player retention 2018: MS Dhoni returns to CSK, RCB retain Virat Kohli Mumbai retain HITMAN

NEW DELHI: Ahead of the mega Indian Premier League (IPL) auction later this month, India's premier cash-rich T20 league on Thursday held its player retention ceremony in Mumbai. Most of the big names are retained by their respective franchises, but there are few surprises too.

 Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) retained their skippers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma respectively, while MS Dhoni returned to Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

 Here is the list of retained players:
* Sunrisers Hyderabad retained David Warner and Bhuvneshwar Kumar
* Royal Challengers Bangalore retained skipper Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Sarfaraz Khan
* Rajasthan Royals retained Australia captain Steve Smith
* Kolkata Knight Riders retained two West Indians - Sunil Narine and ANdre Russell
* Kings XI Punjab retained only one player - Axar Patel
* Chennai Super Kings retained MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja

 Mumbai Indians retained skipper Rohit Sharma, all-rounder Hardik Pandya and pacer Jasprit Bumrah


* Delhi Daredevils retained Rishabh Pant, wicketkeeper-batsman and Delhi Ranji captain, batsman Shreyas Iyer and South African all-rounder Chris Morris
